Our Active for Autism 5K Run/Walk & Fun Fest promotes awareness, acceptance, and inclusion of those affected by autism. This event provides community education while generating partnerships with families and organizations across the Greater Baton Rouge eight-parish area.
Our Active for Autism 5K Run/Walk & Fun Fest is on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017, in conjunction with National Autism Awareness Month. We are proud to announce that we are now an RRCA Certified 5K!
Proceeds from this event support Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge’s program–Resource Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (RCASD). RCASD provides individualized services, information, and support needed to positively enhance the independence, productivity, and inclusion of people with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Every year our 5k/Walk and Fun Fest is successful in part because of our extraordinary volunteer committee members. We need folks to help us get secure corporate sponsorship, organize in-kind donations, solicit silent auction donations, organize food and beverage, etc. After our initial meeting next Tuesday, volunteers will be broken into sub-committees to tackle each task at hand. We have a conference call-in number, so even if you can’t make one of the meeting dates below we’d love to have you! Sponsors are crucial to Active For Autism. We have 5 levels of sponsorship ranging from the Presenting Sponsor for $10,000, Platinum Sponsor for $7,500, Gold Sponsor for $5,000, Silver Sponsor for $2,500 and Patron Sponsor for $500 – $2,499. Become a Vendor!
Each year we have Vendor Booths at the event from various clinics, non-profits, and centers in the Greater Baton Rouge. Vendors often host fun, kid-friendly activities so that parents may receive information about the vendor’s various services. Check out our Vendor Booth Registration document for price points.
Create Fundraiser at School or Work!
- Create a team of faculty and staff when you register! Everyone is invited to walk, but wouldn’t you like to walk with YOUR school or office’s team of friends, family and/or coworkers?
- Hold an alternate dress day at your school or office as a fundraiser with proceeds going to benefit the walk. For example, have everyone in your office or school pitch in $5 to wear jeans for the day.
- Encourage friendly competition among your staff and/or other schools in your district.
- Encourage your sports teams and cheerleaders to line the 5K run path or just volunteer to help out.
When you donate an item to our silent auction, you help our program and increase your brand awareness! Past donations have included art, décor items, gift baskets, cookbooks, designer purses, portrait packages, sports memorabilia, restaurant & hotel gift certificates and vacation packages, electronics, salon or spa packages. Our volunteers do various tasks from helping us set up the 5k route signs, to passing out water and snacks, breaking down the site, logistics assistance, and much more.
